About Steve McCarter

 Steve McCarter and his wife Deborah have lived in Cheltenham Township for 25 years, residing in Elkins Park and Jenkintown before moving to Glenside. Steve is an avid political junkie and golfer with a passion for reading and public service.

Steve’s work experiences from machine operator to high school teacher to deb and stevearmy reserve captain to university professor provide a varied background for representing our diverse community. 

 Working on community committees and local politics, Steve has become knowledgeable of local concerns and needs.

 As a labor leader Steve represented diverse groups from bus drivers to cafeteria workers to secretaries to teachers.  Steve listened to opposing views and devised solutions to complex issues and bridged the gap between employee and employer to find resolution.

Steve has worked closely with elected officials from the federal, state and local levels in his roles as Cheltenham Democratic Party leader and Montgomery County Democratic Political Director.
